Dysport

There’s not much you can do to prevent lines and wrinkles from forming between the eyes and on the forehead, but there is a treatment for after they form. Lines on the face are caused by repeated muscle contractions and movements, which means they often start to occur long before your middle-aged years. The good news is, even if you are middle-aged, you don’t have to look like it. There are solutions and treatments for facial lines and wrinkles.

At Advanced Aesthetics, one treatment we use to smooth out wrinkles and remove years from your face is Dysport. This is a neuromodulator that causes the muscles to relax, making lines fade or disappear even when you frown deeply. Even after a single treatment, you are likely to see results in only 3-5 days.

Advanced Aesthetics is a Dysport Preferred Clinic, earning Galderma's highest practice distinguishing level of Presidential Executive Status. Our staff has a combined 25 + years of injector experience using the most advanced techniques and can customize these treatments to meet your individual cosmetic needs.

What is the Dysport treatment process?

The process for receiving Dysport treatment is fairly simple. The first step you should always take is to talk to one of our medical professionals about whether Dysport is the right option for you. Once Dysport treatment has been safely prescribed, we’ll schedule the first treatment. All patients require multiple treatments to maintain results spaced 3-4 months apart.

The actual treatment is minimally invasive, consisting of small injections over and between the eyebrows, on the forehead, around the eyes (for crow's feet), and on the jawline and neck. These injections are so small they don’t require an anesthetic, but patients usually feel a tiny prick. The slender needle injects the Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) straight into specific muscles leading to the wrinkles to prevent them from moving and contracting. The average session is short, lasting only 20-30 minutes.

After treatment, you may experience slight bruising or soreness at the injection sites, but this is normal and almost always goes away within the first couple of days. On rare occasions, some patients also notice drooping on one side of their face or asymmetry in their expression.

Dysport treatment generally lasts about 3-4 months, at which point you can schedule another treatment.

How Much Does Dysport Treatment Cost?

The cost of a Dysport treatment depends on how many Dysport units are administered for any given treatment. Naturally, the deeper the wrinkles between the brows, the more Dysport will be required to effectively treat them. Each unit of Dysport costs $13.50/unit, so on average, you should expect to pay $400-$600 for one full treatment. Our medical professionals will be able to give a much more accurate estimate during a pre-treatment consultation.

Are There Risks to Using Dysport?

Since Dysport is a botulinum toxin, there is a chance of side effects. Despite the low risk, Dysport is not for patients with any of the following conditions:

  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Allergies to Dysport or any of its ingredients
  • Muscle or nerve conditions
  • Inflammation or open wounds at injection site

Dysport is also not for patients under 18 or anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.

So you can have peace of mind about your Dysport treatment, our medical professionals are happy to consult with you and answer any questions or uncertainties you may have. We are honored that you’re considering Advanced Aesthetics on your journey to become a more confident you.
