What Is Scarring?

At Advanced Aesthetics, we understand the complex nature of scarring—whether it stems from acne, injury, surgery, or another cause—and we're here to help you navigate the path to improved skin health and confidence.

Scars form as part of the natural healing process when the deeper layers of the skin have been damaged. The body works to repair the wound by producing collagen fibers, resulting in a scar.

The appearance of a scar can vary widely, depending on multiple factors including the size and depth of the wound, your age, hereditary factors, and even the location on the body. Common causes of scars include:

  • Acne
  • Injury
  • Surgery
  • Skin conditions

Whether your scars are a recent development or longstanding companions, our team at Advanced Aesthetics gives you compassionate care, state-of-the-art treatments, and the support you need to feel confident in your skin again.

We believe in a personalized approach because each scar and every individual’s skin is unique.

What Treatments Are Offered for Scars?

At Advanced Aesthetics, we're here to illuminate that path to smoother, more confident skin with cutting-edge treatments tailored to your unique skin story.

Whether your scars are from acne, surgery, or an accident, our specialized treatments — including VBeam, Fraxel Dual, and SkinPen, and SylFirm X — can address various types of scarring, helping you get the clearer skin you desire.

VBeam

This pulsed dye laser treatment is an effective option for reducing the appearance of red, pink, or purple scars. VBeam delivers an intense but manageable burst of light into targeted areas of the skin, which is absorbed by the blood vessels or melanin-pigmented areas, causing them to collapse and reduce in color.

Ideal for scars that are raised and discolored, VBeam helps minimize their appearance without harming the surrounding skin. Treatments are quick, usually involving minimal discomfort, and require little to no downtime, making it a convenient option for your busy schedule.

Fraxel Dual

If you’re dealing with textured scars, such as acne scars or surgical marks, Fraxel Dual offers a powerful solution. This fractional laser treatment penetrates deep into the skin to stimulate collagen production, promoting the growth of new, healthy skin cells.

Fraxel Dual is particularly effective for both raised and indented scars, smoothing out the skin's texture and blending the scar more seamlessly with the surrounding area.

While the treatment involves a few days of downtime as the skin heals, the results are worth it, significantly improving the skin’s appearance.

SkinPen

Combining microneedling with your body’s own healing power, SkinPen is a revolutionary treatment for scar reduction. The SkinPen creates tiny punctures in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response and promoting cellular repair and collagen production.

This procedure is especially effective for acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks, offering improvements in texture and tone. The treatment is minimally invasive with a short recovery time, making it a great option for a less intensive procedure.

SylFirm X

SylFirm X is an advanced treatment for scar reduction, utilizing radio-frequency microneedling to enhance your skin's natural healing processes. By delivering precise energy to targeted areas, SylFirm X stimulates collagen production and promotes tissue regeneration.

This innovative procedure is particularly effective for treating acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks. It improves skin texture and tone, resulting in smoother, more even skin.

With minimal invasiveness and a short recovery time, SylFirm X is an excellent option for those seeking effective scar treatment without extensive downtime.

What Is the Treatment Time for Minimizing & Correcting Scars?

At Advanced Aesthetics, we're committed to guiding you through your healing journey with transparency and care, ensuring you know what to expect every step of the way — especially when it comes to treatment times.

VBeam

Each VBeam session is relatively quick, typically lasting about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size and number of scars being treated. Since the treatment is gentle, the recovery time is minimal, often with no downtime required.

Patients can usually return to their daily activities immediately after treatment. For optimal results, we may recommend a series of three to five treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart, allowing your skin ample time to respond and heal between sessions.

Fraxel Dual

Fraxel Dual treatments are more intensive, with the total in-office treatment taking about minutes, including time for the patient to have topical numbing cream applied pre-procedure. Given the penetration depth and collagen production stimulation, the skin will need time to heal properly.

Patients can expect a recovery period of about five to seven days, during which the skin may appear red and feel similar to a sunburn.

We typically recommend two to three treatments for Fraxel Dual, spaced about six to eight weeks apart, to get the best results and allow for complete healing.

SkinPen

This innovative treatment utilizes the benefits of microneedling and requires a total in-office treatment time of about 60 – 75 minutes per session, including time for the patient to have topical numbing cream applied pre-procedure.

The recovery period is relatively short, with most patients experiencing mild redness and sensitivity for two to three days post-treatment.

For comprehensive scar reduction, a series of four to six treatments, spaced about four to six weeks apart, is often recommended, depending on your skin condition and the severity of the scars.
