What Are Wrinkles & Fine Lines?

At Advanced Aesthetics, we understand the desire to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If you’re seeking a refreshed and rejuvenated look, our Oklahoma City office offers several treatments to give you smoother skin.

Wrinkles and fine lines are the skin's natural response to a variety of factors, both internal and external. Understanding these can empower you with the knowledge to care for your skin effectively.

  • Aging: Our skin naturally loses elasticity and collagen as we age, making it more prone to wrinkles and fine lines. The skin becomes thinner and drier, losing its ability to bounce back.
  • Sun Exposure: UV radiation accelerates aging, breaking down collagen and elastin fibers that provide the skin's strength and elasticity. Repeated sun exposure over the years can lead to premature aging and the development of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Facial Expressions: Repeated facial movements and expressions (like smiling, frowning, or squinting) can lead to fine lines and wrinkles over time as the skin loses flexibility.
  • Lifestyle Factors: Smoking, poor diet, dehydration, and lack of sleep can all contribute to the development of wrinkles and fine lines by affecting the health and vitality of your skin.

The symptoms of wrinkles and fine lines often begin subtly and become more pronounced over time. They may appear as slight creases that deepen with facial movements or become permanent fixtures on the landscape of your skin.

Common areas affected include the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), between the eyebrows, and around the mouth.

What Treatments Are Offered for Wrinkles & Fine Lines

Choosing the right treatment—or combination of treatments—is key to getting the best results. At Advanced Aesthetics, we pride ourselves on our personalized approach to cosmetic care.

Treatment with dermal fillers is highly customizable, with effects lasting from six months to over a year, depending on the product used and the area treated. Fillers offer immediate results with minimal downtime.

Botox & Dysport

Botox and Dysport are both forms of botulinum toxin type A, designed to temporarily relax facial muscles that contribute to wrinkles and fine lines. By carefully targeting specific muscles, these treatments can smooth out:

  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Lines around the neck, nose and mouth

The process is quick, has minimal discomfort, and requires no downtime, making it a convenient option for those with busy lifestyles. Results typically last three to four months, after which you can choose to have repeat treatments to maintain your refreshed appearance.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are another powerful option in the fight against aging, working to restore lost volume and smooth out deep-set lines. Made from substances like hyaluronic acid that mimic the body’s natural compounds, fillers can:

  • Plump thin lips
  • Enhance shallow contours
  • Soften facial creases and wrinkles
  • Improve the appearance of recessed scars

Treatment with dermal fillers is highly customizable, with effects lasting from six months to over a year, depending on the product used and the area treated. Like Botox and Dysport, fillers offer immediate results with minimal downtime.

What Is the Treatment Time for Reducing Wrinkles & Fine Lines?

At Advanced Aesthetics, we value your time and commitment to self-care, which is why we’re dedicated to providing treatments that are not only effective but also fit seamlessly into your busy life.

Understanding the treatment time involved for Botox, Dysport, and dermal fillers can help set clear expectations for your visit to our clinic.

Botox & Dysport Treatments

Botox and Dysport treatments typically only take 30 minutes, depending on the areas being treated.

While results aren’t immediate, you’ll see full results in about two weeks. Results can last up to three to four months, at which point you may choose to have a follow-up treatment.

Dermal Fillers

Similar to Botox and Dysport, dermal filler injection treatments take anywhere from 45 – 60 minutes. The length of your appointment will depend on the areas being treated and the amount of filler used.

Results are usually immediate. Depending on the type of filler used, the effects can last from six months to over a year, with the option for touch-ups to maintain your youthful glow.

What Is the Price for Treating Wrinkles & Fine Lines?

At Advanced Aesthetics, we aim to help you make informed decisions that align with your aesthetic goals and budget.

  • Botox & Dysport: Prices are set on a tiered system based on the number of units required. The first 30 units price is $13.50 per unit, and 30+ units come out to $13 per unit. The total cost is dependent on the number of areas treated and the severity of wrinkles in those areas. Typically, these treatments range from $450 – $650, but patients might need more or fewer units depending on goals and desired areas they want to treat.
  • Dermal fillers: The price for dermal fillers is set at $750 per syringe. The number of syringes needed will depend on the treatment area, the patient’s goals, and the extent of correction desired.

What Are the Side Effects of Treating Fine Lines & Wrinkles?

As with any cosmetic treatments, Botox, Dysport, and dermal fillers come with potential side effects, though they are generally mild and temporary.

Potential side effects of Botox and Dysport treatments are typically minimal and may include:

  • Headaches
  • Temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites

Rarely, a patient may experience eyebrow asymmetry, which usually resolves within a few weeks. If, after two weeks, the patient needs a small correction once the product is set due to asymmetry, we can easily perform a touch-up in our Oklahoma City office.

Our skilled practitioners use precise techniques to minimize these effects, ensuring your treatment is as comfortable and effective as possible.

Dermal fillers have side effects similar to those of Botox and Dysport, including:

  • Redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites
  • Temporary lumps or bumps
  • Mild discomfort or tenderness

These effects typically resolve quickly, and our team is here to guide you through aftercare practices that can help speed up the recovery process.
